SCSU Looks to Break Fake Mustache Record on Nov. 23
11/18/2013 9:59:00 PM | Men's Hockey
The attempt will happen at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center following the Nov. 23 men's Husky Hockey game. The mustaches will draw attention to the men's health issues, in particular prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
In support of this event, SCSU will offer a $5 discount on any ticket purchased at the ticket office on Nov. 23 to anyone who brings a fake mustache or has a real mustache at the game that night.
The fake mustache participants are asked to gather at the Zamboni entrance to McDonald Rink. Organizers will distribute small, adhesive mustaches.
If 4,000 hockey fans wear the fake mustaches, it would break the record, which is in the low 2,000s, Bjerkness said. Â
Berkness is a community health major. Seddon is graduate student in the school counseling program.
This and other Movember events on campus are part of an international movement. The mustache (mustache + November = Movember) is the movement's symbol. The movement, guided by the Movember Foundation, seeks to "change the face of men's health."
