Sunstrom Leads the SCSU Women’s Cross Country Program At The Bob Waxlax Invitational

SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. – Senior Samantha Sunstrom led the St. Cloud State women's cross country team at the hosted Bob Waxlax Invitational on the Wapicada Golf Course on Friday, Oct. 9.

Sunstrom had her second fastest time of the season (23:11.1) in finishing 19th overall of the 75 runners in the 6K race that was won by Southwest Minnesota State's Hannah Palmeter. Minnesota Duluth for the second straight year were crowned the team champions in the race. St. Cloud State placed fourth of the seven NSIC team in the competition.

Junior Rachel Sakry finished 21st overall in a season-best time of 23:24.4. Junior Kaylee Roelike was the third Huskies finisher in 24th place (23:30.8). Other finishers for SCSU were sophomore Maria Hauer (35th- 24:07.1), sophomore Zia Matti (51st – 24:46.7) and junior Lindsay Stassen (67th – 26:10.2)

The St. Cloud State women's cross country program returns to the course at the NSIC Championship Invitational on Oct. 24 at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.
