Mankato, Minn. – St. Cloud State senior Becky Schmidt (White Bear Lake, Minn.) won the 200 meter race and placed second in the 60 meter dash to lead the Huskies at the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by Minnesota State University.
Schmidt posted personal records in the 60 meter prelim (7.79) and the 200 meter finals (25.40). She also met an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 200 meters.
"I was very happy with our overall performance on the day," SCSU coach Eric Hanenberger said. "Most notably, senior Becky Schmidt, running a PR in the 60m in prelims and finishing second in finals. She had a large PR in the 200m, hitting a NCAA provisional time and winning the event. We will be taking a select group that qualify to SDSU for the SDSU Classic next weekend."
Several members of the men's and women's team will compete at the South Dakota State University Classic next weekend.
