Jurgella and Spitzack gain Academic All-District 7 honors

The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District® Baseball Teams has been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. St. Cloud State University senior catcher Mike Jurgella (Plover, Wisc.) and junior pitcher Logan Spitzack (West Concord, Minn.) have both been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 NCAA Division II Baseball Team for this spring.
A resident of Plover, Wisc. and graduate of Pacelli High School, Jurgella is a finance major at St. Cloud State. A two-time Academic All-NSIC award winner, Jurgella received Academic All-America First Team honors and Academic All-District First Team honors in 2014. Spitzack is a resident of West Concord, Minn. and a graduate of Triton High School. He is an elementary education major at St. Cloud State.
 Mike JurgellaThe 2015 NSIC Player of the Year and an All-NSIC First Team selection this season, Jurgella currently paces the Huskies with a .437 batting average, 14 home runs, 66 RBIs and 142 total bases. He has also charted 59 runs, 80 hits and 16 doubles for the Huskies this spring. Spitzack owns a 5-0 record and a 3.13 ERA for the Huskies in 2015. In 46.0 innings of work in the Huskies' starting rotation, Spitzack has 29 strikeouts to his credit.
The pair have guided the Huskies to a 48-3 overall record in 2015. SCSU won the regular season NSIC title in 2015 with a 31-3 record and are the number one seed at the NSIC tournament, which will run through May 9 in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Huskies are currently the number one ranked team in the latest NCBWA Division II national poll and they are also the number one team in the latest NCAA Division II Central Region poll released this week.
The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2014-15 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month and in early June.
