St. Cloud State to be featured on Hockey Day Minnesota

The Huskies and Mavericks will face off on FSN North PLUS on Saturday, January 21
The St. Cloud State women's hockey game against Minnesota State on Saturday, January 21 has been added to the Hockey Day Minnesota 2017 programming lineup, FOX Sports North and the Minnesota Wild announced Thursday.Â
The game will be broadcast live from the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on FOX Sports North PLUS beginning at 3 p.m. This is the first time in Hockey Day Minnesota's 10-year history that an NCAA women's game will be broadcast as part of the festivities.
"We are very proud to represent the WCHA during Hockey Day Minnesota," SCSU head coach Eric Rud said. "This is a premier event in our state and it's an honor to be a part of it and to showcase women's hockey on television."
Fans can join in the Hockey Day Minnesota conversation by using the hashtag #HDM2017.
"Hockey Day Minnesota has become such a huge thing and is so special for Minnesota hockey players and fans," senior forward and captain Lauren Hespenheide said. "To be able to be a part of it is an awesome feeling, and being from Minnesota makes it that much more meaningful."
Hockey Day Minnesota was originated in 2007 by the Minnesota Wild to celebrate the game that has made Minnesota the State of Hockey. It is produced in partnership with FOX Sports North, Minnesota Hockey and the respective local community that serves as host each year. The WCHA and FOX Sports North have also partnered for a historic agreement to broadcast nine women's hockey games during the 2016-17 season, the league announced Thursday. It is the WCHA's first-ever extended women's hockey television package.
FOX Sports North will broadcast eight regluar season games and the WCHA Final Face-off championship game. St. Cloud State will have a league-high six of its contests televised on the network:Â

All games broadcast by FOX Sports North will also be streamed live on FOX Sports GO. The broadcasts of SCSU home games will be produced by Husky Productions' award-winning student crew.
