Patience Yalartai and Isaiah Pitchford Both Win Events for Track & Field On Second Day of Lyle Hokanson Classic

FARGO, N.D. – The St. Cloud State outdoor track and field programs were led by event wins junior Patience Yalartai and sophomore Isaiah Pitchford on the second day of the Lyle Hokanson Classic on the campus of North Dakota State University on Saturday, April 23.
The two teams ended up winning a total of two events on the afternoon and had eight top-three finishes.

Yalartai won the women's long jump with her leap of 5.54m/18'02.25". It was her second event win in the long jump this season.
Pitchford won the 400m dash with his time of 49.31. It was his second event win in the 400m this season and the third time he has placed in the top three. His sophomore teammate Marcus Welk placed third in the event (49.94).

Senior Rafael Saez placed second in the men's discus with a 50.11m/164'05". It was the third time he has finished as the runner up in the discus this season. Junior Quinn Andersen finished third in the same event with his toss of 49.90m/163'08"

Junior Myles Witcher placed second in the 110 hurdles (15.18).
Junior Johnathan Hess finished second in the 5000m (16:07.24)

Junior Vance Barnes finished third in the 100m (11.04).
Both outdoor track & field programs will compete in two different events next week as part of the team heads to the Tommie Twilight in St. Paul, Minn. on April 27 on the campus of St. Thomas University. The rest of the team is schedule to head to the Drake Relay hosted by Drake University from April 28-30 in Des Moines, Iowa.
