#1 St. Cloud State scores 2-2 tie at Princeton on Dec. 30

The #1 ranked St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (12-2-3, 7-2-1 NCHC) scored its second consecutive tie game on Dec. 30 with a 2-2 ending at Princeton University (6-7-3) in Princeton, N.J.
The Huskies gained the game's upper hand at 6:46 of the first period with a goal by Judd Peterson, which was assisted by Nick Poehling and Jack Poehling. This was Peterson's second goal of the season.
The Tigers tied the contest at 17:51 of the first period with a goal by Jake Paganelli.
After a scoreless second period, Princeton gain its first lead in the contest with a power play goal by Ryan Kuffner at :30.
Midway through the third period, SCSU knotted the score once again at 2-2 with a power play goal by Jacob Benson. Blake Winiecki and Jimmy Schuldt each added assists on the play.
The goal by Benson forced SCSU's second consecutive OT session, which saw SCSU goalie Jeff Smith make saves on all four shots he faced.
Smith was the goalie of record in the game with 40 saves, while the Huskies netted 45 shots on goal in the game. Princeton goalie Ryan Ferland had 43 saves in the game.

- Jeff Smith had 40 saves vs. Princeton tonight, which marks the third time this season that Smith has hit 40-plus saves in a game. Smith has 310 saves this year with a 2.14 GAA and a .928 save rate.
