Patience Yalartai Wins Long Jump To Lead Indoor Track & Field on First Day at NSIC Championships

Mankato, Minn. – Senior Patience Yalartai won the long jump to lead the St. Cloud State indoor track and field team on the first day of the 2017 NSIC Indoor TF Championship at the Myers Fieldhouse on the campus of Minnesota State. SCSU had six top-10 finishes on the afternoon.

Yalartai won the long jump with her leap of 5.75m. The leap allowed her to reach NSIC All-Conference status in the event for the third straight season after she placed second in the long jump last season and third as a sophomore.

Seniors Kaylee Roelike and Rachel Sakry both placed in the top 10 of the 800m preliminaries. Roelike finished ninth with a 2:22.66, while Sakry earned 10th with a 2:22.85.

The SCSU distance medley team placed sixth in their event (12:38.79)
Freshman Chrissy Lofgren placed eighth in the preliminaries of the 1000m (3:03.88) and qualified for Saturday's final that begin at 2:45 p.m.
Junior Natalie Gottschalk finished eighth in the preliminaries of the 600m run (1:38.51) and qualified to race in Saturday's final that starts at 2 p.m.
The program is ranked seventh among the 12 teams with 18 points.
The SCSU indoor track & field program continues competing on the second day of the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Among the events that will be contested on the second day starting at 11 a.m. are the triple jump, the shot put, the mile, 60m hurdles, the 600m finals, 1000m finals, the 5000m and the 4x400 relays
