Patience Yalartai and Sam Sunstrom Earn All-Conference Accolades on Second Day of NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships

Mankato, Minn. – Seniors Patience Yalartai and Sam Sunstrom both achieved NSIC All-Conference accolades for St. Cloud State's indoor track and field team on the second day of the 2017 NSIC Indoor T&F Championships at the Myers Fieldhouse on the campus of Minnesota State on Feb. 25. SCSU had five top-10 finishes and an event win on the afternoon.

Yalartai won the triple jump with her leap of 12.36m/40'06.75. It was the fourth time in as many seasons that she has achieved NSIC All-Conference status in the indoor triple jump after finishing second last year and third in both 2014 and 2015. Yalartai totaled 20 individual points in this year's meet to tie for the fourth-most among all competitors.
Sunstrom finished third in the 5000m with a 17:19.02 to earn NSIC All-Conference honors. Junior McKenzie Holt also placed 10th in the 5000m (18:20.02).

Junior Natalie Gottschalk finished fifth in the 600m run (1:38.08).
Freshman Chrissy Lofgren placed eighth in the 1000m (3:04.99).
The program finished eighth among the 13 teams with 39 points.
Members of the SCSU indoor track & field program that qualified through NCAA DII provisional marks will compete next at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships from March 10-14 in Birmingham, Ala.
