Yalartai Wins A Pair Of Events To Lead Outdoor Track & Field Program At Hamline Invitational

St. Paul, Minn. – Senior Patience Yalartai won a pair of events at the Hamline Invitational at Klas Field on the campus of Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. to lead the outdoor track & field program on Saturday, April 1. The program had seven top-five finishes on the afternoon including three event victories. The squad also saw three athletes record NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
Yalartai won the long jump with her leap of 5.58m/18'03.75" and the triple jump with her jump of 12.12m/39'09.25". Her mark in the triple was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Freshman Abby Jungwirth finished fourth in the triple jump with her leap of 10.96m/35'11.50".
Freshman Bailee Brazerol won the 100m dash with her time of 12.33.
Senior Jasmine Grant was the runner-up in the 400m dash with a 54.51. Her time also was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Fellow senior Sam Sunstrom finished third in the 5,000m with her time of 17:05.05. Her mark also was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
The team's 4x400 relay team of senior Kristen Wendt, Grant, freshman Kaylee Glover and freshman Hanna Shank finished fifth in their event with a time of 4:06.55.
The SCSU team continues outdoor season with a pair of meets next week. SCSU starts off competing at the MIAA/NSIC Showdown Multi from April 6-8 at Northwest Missouri State. The rest of the program then heads Sioux Falls, S.D. for the USF Open on April 8.
