Dayton, MN A 1957 graduate of St. Cloud State University, Ade Pitmon was a four-time letterwinner in baseball for the Huskies in 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1956. A standout as catcher and outfielder, Pitmon led the Huskies in home runs in 1952 and 1953, and finished his career with a batting average of well over .300. His collegiate career was interrupted by a stint in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, but he did return for one more season of college ball in 1956. Of note, Pitmon played and coached at Ft. Campbell, KY., during his service years and was chosen to the base's All-Star team in 1955. As a prep athlete at Robbinsdale High School, Pitmon lettered in baseball, football and basketball and won numerous accolades for those sports. He lettered in baseball five times at Robbinsdale, going from the team's bat boy in seventh grade to the varsity squad's starting catcher in eighth grade. After leaving SCSU, Pitmon served as head baseball coach at Osseo High School from 1958 to 1982. In his 25 years at Osseo, his squads won four region titles, numerous conference and district titles and made the state tournament in 1970, 1980, 1981 and 1982. Pitmon coached the Osseo High School football team for several seasons. Pitmon served as president of the Osseo Federation of Teachers from 1962-63, and was head of the Osseo Junior High School boys physical education department from 1970-1989. To complete his resume, Pitmon was a basketball and football referee at the junior high school level for many years and spent a number of years umpiring baseball at the high school level.
