A SCSU student from 1958-61, he was a three-time letterwinner in football and two-time letterwinner in track. In 1960 he was voted the conference Most Valuable Player in football and from 1962-63 he was the assistant football and track coach at SCSU. In 1969, he completed his doctorate in physical education from Indiana University. He has been a consultant for firms including the Shell Oil Company and the Astronaut Evaluation program for the space shuttle missions. He has authored or co-authored five books and 52 articles. In 1982, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from SCSU. He is currently a professor at the University of Houston.
