Brady Watts
- Induction:
- 1995
Brady Watts was a long-time devotee of St. Cloud State University and of Husky athletics. He joined the University staff in 1968 and served as financial officer for the SCSU Foundation and Alumni Association from 1985 until his death December 11, 1993 from a brain tumor. Brady was a vocal fan of football, hockey, and especially basketball. A friend to coaches and players, Brady supported Husky athletics by volunteering time at golf outings, fish-a-rama, and other fundraising events. He was a long-time member of the Husky Booster Club and Husky Hoopster Club. Student athletes from outside of Minnesota frequently enjoyed hospitality at the Watts' home during holidays when they were unable to travel to their own homes. Brady was a fixture in the bleachers at home basketball games and regularly traveled to road games at every campus in the North Central Conference as well as many non-conference locations. The men's basketball team enjoyed an annual spaghetti dinner at the Watts' home. "He was definitely a special guy," according to former forward Haug Scharnowski. Brady's enthusiasm and loyalty for Husky athletics as well as his generosity toward students and coaches earned him the Hall of Fame's 1995 Award for Distinguished Service to Athletics.
