Tonka Bay Minn., graduated from SCSU in 1976 with a bachelor's degree. Chuck was quarterback and a four-year football letterwinner for the Huskies. He was voted Freshman of the Year in 1971 and was a two-time Northern Intercollegiate Conference All-Conference selection. In 1974, his senior season, Wayne was a team captain, and voted SCSU's Most Valuable Player, the NIC Most Valuable Player and the St. Paul Pioneer Press Conference MVP. During that season, he set single game records for most passes in one game with 20, most touchdown passes with four, and most yards passing with 273. He also set single season marks for TD passes with 14, most yards rushing and passing with 1803. His career marks at the time included most passing attempts, most yards passing, most touchdown passes, most rushing and passing plays and most rushing and passing yards. Chuck currently ranks fifth on SCSU's career all-purpose yardage charge with 5,042 yards and is fifth in all-time passing with 256 completions, 554 attempts, 3,595 yards and 34 touchdowns. He ranked third in NCAA Division II in total offense in 1974. In 1975, Chuck had a free agent tryout with the New York Jets. Chuck is a graduate of Minneapolis North High School. He is a regional marketing representative for Centron. He and his wife Cheryl have one son.
