Eagan, Minn., is a 1986 graduate of SCSU. He was a pitcher for the Husky baseball team from 1980 to 1984. He threw a 2-0 shutout in his first collegiate start as a freshman in 1980 and helped his team to the Northern Intercollegiate Conference championship. He was a co-captain of the Huskies his senior season and led the team in games pitched with eight, games started with seven, innings pitched with 41.2 and strikeouts with 42. He tied for the team lead in wins with three and was named the North Central Conference Most Valuable Pitcher. He posted a career record of 8-12 with three saves as a Husky. He struck out 102 batters in 128 career innings played. Dana was an eighth round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in 1983 and played in the organization's minor league system for six seasons. In December of 1989, he was put on Boston's 40-man roster for the first time and in 1990 he was named the Boston Red Sox Rookie of the Year. That same year, Boston won the American League East Division. A native of Fairfax, Minn., Dana established the Kiecker Scholarship Fund in 1991 to help a deserving student in Fairfax School District #649 attend college in his/her freshman year. He is an active member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Eagan. He is an account executive with United Parcel Service and color commentator for the St. Paul Saints. Dana and his wife Julie have two children.
