Waconia, MN Daniel Neubauer was a Husky standout in both football and track and field at St. Cloud State from 1977 to 1981. As a defensive back, he snagged 19 interceptions and had a team and season high eight interceptions during the 1978 season. He still holds the SCSU career record for interceptions with 19. He also returned kick-offs and punts. During his career he ran up 1,286 yards in kick-off returns and 388 yards in punt returns. He tallied 111 career tackles and in 1980 led the team in scoring with six touchdowns. Neubauer earned NAIA All-American and Academic All-American honors in football. In track and field, Neubauer competed in the decathlon. He was an All-American Decathlete in 1981 and still holds the SCSU decathlon record of 7,105 points set the same year at the Drake Relays. Following his collegiate career, Neubauer was a rookie member of the 1981 Dallas Cowboys. Over the years, he has continued his involvement in athletics as a little league baseball, basketball, football, track and soccer coach. He is a past member of the Waconia Chamber of Commerce Board, Church Council Vice President and Waconia Rotary President.
