He earned eight varsity letters during his career at St. Cloud State, four each in hockey and golf. He was captain of the hockey team during his junior and senior years. In addition to leading the team in scoring, he was named three times to the Norther Intercollegiate Conference team in golf. His team won the NIC championship in 1975. He finished first in the NIC tournament in 1975, tied for third in 1976 and was runner-up in 1978. He earned a try-out with the Minnesota North Stars. Later he played professional bandy (a European sport combining elements of soccer, hockey, curling and lacrosse) in Sweden for EDSBYN from 1985-87. He currently works as a golf pro for the Rich-Spring Golf Club in Cold Spring. He is the younger half of the first father/son combination to be inducted into the SCSU Athletic Hall of Fame.
