Dick Putz has volunteered his efforts for the past 20 years setting up hospitality rooms for basketball games, and assisted in the press box for home football games. He has helped raise thousands of dollars to support the Granite City Basketball Tournament. He has been inducted into the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame, earned the Distinguished Service Award from the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce, has been a member of the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Executive Board for 23 years and has been the board's president for the past nine years. In May 1988, St. Cloud's Municipal Stadium was renamed Dick Putz Field. He is being honored for his service to SCSU athletic departments. He lives in St. Cloud.
