Gary Frericks was a four year starter and letterwinner on both the St. Cloud State football and baseball teams from 1974 to 1979. In addition, he played one season of basketball for the Huskies. He was a team captain, team MVP, and First Team All-Northern Intercollegiate  Conference pick in football in 1977. A defensive back in football, Frericks still holds the SCSU single game record for tackles in a game. In a game against the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1977, Frericks tallied 25 tackles, including seven solo and 18 unassisted. That same year he led the team with fiver interceptions. In the spring of 1978, he was a team captain, team MVP and First Team All-NIC as an outfielder on the baseball team. During the 1976 and 1977 seasons, he led the team in hits with 25 and 40, respectively. He hit .305 during the 1976 season and .388 in 1977. He was a member of the 1976 and 1978 NIC Championship Baseball teams. Gary and his family reside in St. Joseph, Minn.
