Gordon Weihrauch wrestled and played football at SCSU from 1949 to 1953. Gordon played offensive and defensive tackle on the Husky football team. A three-year starter, he earned All-Conference honors in 1952. As a member of the wrestling team, Gordon wrestled in the heavyweight division and posted a 52-3-1 career record for the Huskies. He won the heavyweight title at the Carleton Tournament four years in a row. In 1951, he won the NWAAU heavyweight title and placed second in 1952. SCSU won the team NWAAU title in 1951. During the 1952-53 season, he served as a student assistant coach for the wrestling team. Gordon earned an education degree from SCSU and went on to earn a master's degree in education from Minnesota. He went on to teach and coach at Madelia for two years, Hibbing for eight years and St. Louis Park for 23 years. At St. Louis Park he was an assistant football and track and head wrestling coach. His wrestling teams had 21 state tournament entrants and won one state championship.
