Harold "Jake" Jacobs

Harold "Jake" Jacobs earned 15 varsity letters, more than any other athlete in SCSU sports history, in the mid 1930's. He earned four letters in football, baseball and hockey and three letters track. In track, he was the team captain and the conference record holder in the javelin. In 1940, he reported for duty with the Marine Air Corps, and earned his wings in 1941. He served as a flight instructor in Jacksonville until he was promoted to Major and assigned to the South Pacific theater as a fighter pilot. Jacobs was killed in action in January of 1944. He is survived by his wife, Myra, and a daughter.
