Harold "Jake" Jacobs

Harold "Jake" Jacobs earned 15 varsity letters, more than any other athlete in SCSU sports history, in the mid 1930's. Â He earned four letters in football, baseball and hockey and three letters track. Â In track, he was the team captain and the conference record holder in the javelin. Â In 1940, he reported for duty with the Marine Air Corps, and earned his wings in 1941. Â He served as a flight instructor in Jacksonville until he was promoted to Major and assigned to the South Pacific theater as a fighter pilot. Â Jacobs was killed in action in January of 1944. Â He is survived by his wife, Myra, and a daughter. Â
