Jack Gause is a 1953 graduate of SCSU. As a student at SCSU, Gause implemented the Husky wrestling program and coached the team during the 1949 and 1950 seasons. In 1967, Gause refereed the Pan Am games in wrestling and in 1971 was elected as the head official for the sport of wrestling for the USA-AAU. From 1971 to 1975 he refereed five world championships, four world cups, one pre-Olympic meet and many international dual meets. Gause was president of the Minnesota AAU wrestling organization from 1970 to 1974. In 1975, Gause was awarded the FILA International Governing Body of Wrestling Gold Star Service Award which is their highest honor. He represented the USA as one of the wrestling referees at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Gause presently is a teacher and coach at Columbia Heights High School.
