Jan Niehaus Herke

Ankeny, IA Jan Niehaus Herke was a four-year letter winner on the SCSU women's basketball team. She was a three-time All-American and two-time All-North Central Conference team selection. She played in four NCAA Regionals and one NCAA Quarterfinal game, and helped the Huskies to the 1989 NCC Championship. She was named the Regional Tournament MVP in 1989. In addition, Jan was a two-time NCC All-Academic Team member and a two-time Academic All-American, earning first team honors in 1990. Jan ranks third in all-time scoring at SCSU with 1,776 career points. She ranks second all-time in steals with 337 and third all-time in assists with 407. Since graduating from SCSU, Jan played in the professional ranks in Germany, winning the national championship in 1992. She also played for the Minnesota Stars of the WBA, earning a spot on the league All-Star team. She is currently a sales professional with Milex Products, Inc.
