In all, he earned ten letters during his careers in football, hockey and baseball. After the 1954 season he was elected to the football all-conference first team and was a scoring leader throughout his hockey career, during which the Huskies managed a record of 17-7. Â Student coach for the 1954 team was Brendan McDonald, '54, current president of the University. (Note: Construction of the National Hockey Center has eliminated a problem suffered by the 1954 Hockey Huskies. Â In that year, six of ten scheduled games were canceled due to warm weather.) Jerry's coached football, hockey and baseball for 19 years at Grey Eagle, Maple Lake, Benilde, Columbia Heights and Wayzata High Schools. Three of Jerry's sons graduated from St. Cloud State including Dave, who is also a member of the 1991 Hall of Fame class.Â
