Shoreview, Minn., earned a total of twelve letters during his career at SCSU, for football, basketball and baseball. Joe is remembered as a superb basketball player and a true sportsman. He became known as "Iron Man Odanovich." In a game against Mankato State, Joe pitched both games of a doubleheader in their entirety. After graduating from college in 1938, Joe taught and coached at Wayzata, New Prague, Crosby-Ironton and Alexandria Ramsey Senior High. After military service, Joe returned to Crosby-Ironton where he coached football, basketball and track and lead three teams to the Minnesota State High School championships.
