John Kasper

John Kasper joined the St. Cloud State staff in 1949. Until his retirement in 1984, he served at various times as head baseball coach, member of the physical education faculty and chair of the health, physical education and recreation department. He is the second winningest baseball coach in SCSU history with a win/loss record of 213-128. His teams won three Northern Intercollegiate Conference (NIC) titles, one bi-state title and finished runner-up seven times.
With the encouragement of then men's athletic director Noel Olson, Kasper founded the Hall of Fame in 1982 and served as chair of the Hall of Fame slection committee until his retirement from that post in 1988. Â Proceeds from his book, The Husky Tradition: A History of Men's Athletics at St. Cloud State University, published in 1980, helped to launch the Hall of Fame program.
