Kris Carlton earned a physical education degree in 1979, and completed three years as a starter on the SCSU volleyball team. During her three years on the volleyball team, St. Cloud state placed third, first and second in the conference from 1975 to 1977. In 1976, the volleyball team came back from the loser's bracket to beat the University of Minnesota. Carlton co-captained the team in her senior season and went on to become a volleyball official for the Minnesota State High School League. Carlton is currently the senior director of operations for Diversified Pharmaceutical Services in Edina.
