A 1970 graduate of SCSU, St. John competed in four sports from 1964-69: field hockey, volleyball, basketball and softball. She was selected to the Minnesota Women's All State Softball Teams in 1963-65 and, after graduation, in 1970, 1971 and 1972 by the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association. She served as co-captain of the 1971 and 1974 Minnesota Women's ASA State Championship Softball Teams and participated in four Women's National Softball Tournaments 1968, 1971, 1974, and 1977. St. John has served 17 years as city of Brooklyn Park liaison to volunteer youth support organizations (e.g. Brooklyn Park Athletic Association). This involves scheduling for over 500 youth teams and 10,000 participants annually, facility management, planning development of programs and facilities and other administrative responsibilities. She is co-founder and committee chair for the 1990, 1991, 1992 LPGA Northgate Computer Classic-Women's Professional Golf Tournament. She was involved in the concept planning, design and organization of the Edinburgh USA Golf Course and has generally been extremely active as an athlete as well as advocate for recreational opportunities in her community.
