Marie Sherwood

Marie Sherwood earned a double major in physical education in 1986. She completed a graduate degree at Baylor University in 1989. At SCSU Marie was a three-sport athlete, competing in basketball, volleyball, and track. She was named to the all-conference team in each sport. Her SCSU record for the javelin throw still stands. She earned honors as an AIAW Division II All American and was twice named NCAA Division II All American. Marie qualified for the nationals in track three times and placed second in the javelin at the prestigious Drake Relays in 1983. Marie has worked as an exercise physiologist at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology where she worked with the Back to Fitness Center South, specializing in working with persons who have sustained injuries and seek to recover through physical training. Marie also has worked on a research project with Nordic Track on the effects of a cross country ski machine and Nordic home care machine on lumbar patients.
