Roland Vandell

Dr. Roland Vandell is a 1935 graduate of SCSU. He earned his master's from the University of Colorado in 1939 and his doctorate from the University of North Dakota in 1954. Vandell played high school hockey hockey at Eveleth. He played hockey for the Huskies from 1933-35. He was the SCSU head hockey coach from 1946 to 1950. He was a hockey referee in the first 15 Minnesota State High School League State Hockey Tournaments and was an official in the Big Ten Conference from 1940 to 1960. Vandell directed the City of St. Cloud Winter Recreation Hockey Program in the early 40s. He was a math professor at SCSU for 30 years. Â In 2006-07, SCSU received money from Vandell to help provide scholarships for student-athletes in the Huskies men's hockey program. Â The gift established the Roland A. Vandell Family Endowed Scholarship.
