Porter was an All-Conference, All NAIA District 13 Selection in 1967 and 1969 and received recognition as a little All-American honorable mention. His 1,694 points rank him second on the all-time men's basketball scoring list, and he ranks third in total field goals (663) and third in free throws made (368). Porter maintains his own independent insurance office, Terry Porter Insurance, located in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
