Willard "Bill" Kottke

Bill Kottke won 12 varsity letters in football, basketball, track and golf during his career at SCSU. He was named to the football all-conference team in 1938 and was the NIC individual golf medalist in 1937, 1938 and 1939. Bill also has extensive experience as a golf pro and manager of public and private golf clubs. Bill played on the PGA circuit for 22 years. After leaving SCSU he served as a teacher and coach in Minnesota for 16 years. He was a professor at Flint Community College, Michigan, Bemidji State University and dean of instruction and community services at Northland Community College, Thief River Falls. He was identified as an Outstanding Educator of America in 1972. While at Flint Community College, he was the recipient of the "Ballinger Chair of Learning" for his outstanding contributions to education.Â
