Badgers Sweep Huskies, 5-1

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State University women's hockey team hosted #8 Wisconsin today in their final WCHA regular season meeting.
The Huskies came out determined to change their streak, scoring at the 3:02 mark of the first period. Alex Nelson fired the shot into the net just right of the goal with assists going to Haylea Schmid and Michelle Burke.
Wisconsin came back and tied it up 1-1 though at the 12:30 mark of the first period. The teams went into the locker room at intermission all tied up with Wisconsin outshooting the Huskies.
SCSU was unable to hold on as the Badgers came out and scored three goals in the second period taking a 4-1 lead over the Huskies.
The Badgers were able to get one last goal late in the third period making it a 5-1 final.
It was freshman Katie Fitzgerald in the net for the Huskies recording 31 saves, while Wisconsin's Alex Rigsby posted 21 saves for the win.
St. Cloud State (8-20-2, 4-19-1-0 WCHA) will return to action February 15-16 as they travel to Minnesota State University, Mankato for a two game WCHA series. Game time is slated for 7:07 p.m. Friday and 3:07 p.m. Saturday.
