St. Cloud State Women's Cross Country Places 9th at St. Olaf

The St. Cloud State women's cross country team placed ninth at the 2013 St. Olaf College Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Northfield, Minn. SCSU finished with 221 points in the field of 15 teams, while Minnesota Duluth topped the pack with 46 points.
The remainder of the field on the 6K course included Carlton (68), St.Olaf (94), St. Scholastica (132), Minnesota State (140), Gustavus Adolphus (158), Sioux Falls (186), Grinnell (209), Minnesota Morris (288), Central (296), Martin Luther (328), Bethany Lutheran (384), Northwestern-St. Paul (406) and Crown (495).
SCSU was paced on the day by Kassie Vaness with a 10th place (11th overall) time of 22:59.2, while teammate Samantha Sunstrom placed two back in 12th place (13th overall) at 23:07.8. Rachel Sakry placed 59th (78th overall) at 24:52.9 and Jenny Metzler was 66th (90th overall) in the field at 25:08.0. Kylie Bass placed 74th (109th overall) for the Huskies at 25:36.8, while Lindsay Stassen placed 75th (113th overall) at 25:39.8 and Lauren Johnson placed 84th (141st overall) at 26:10.8.
The Huskies will return to action on Sept. 28 with a trip to the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities.
