
SCSU Women's Basketball falls to #18 Wayne State in Second Round

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team traveled to Sioux Falls, S.D. for the second round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament. The Huskies faced off against #18 Wayne State College and fell to the Wildcats with a final score of 63-76.
"I thought that overall we were inconsistent in this game. We gave ourselves some opportunities to stay in the game. I thought the deciding factor was that Wayne went to the free throw line 34 times. We battled but we never got in a consistent flow," said head coach Lori Fish.
The Huskies finished the year 16-12 overall. Wayne State improves to 26-4 overall and will take on either Winona State or MSU Moorhead on Monday, March 2.
Three St. Cloud State players finished in the double-digits this evening.
Sophomore guard Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Huskies with 16 poibnts. Nooker made 5 of 11 from the three-point range and grabbed eight rebounds.
Junior forward Lexy Petermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) finished with 13 points. Petermann had four steals, two assists, and seven rebounds.
Betsy MacDonald (St. Paul, Minn.) recorded 12 points for the Huskies. MacDonald made two of seven from behind the arc and had three assists.
Jordan Spencer led all players with 23 points for the Wildcats.
The Huskies shot 34.3% from the field compared to Wayne State's 41.1%. Wayne State had made 27 of 34 from the free throw line while St. Cloud State made 13 of 18.
