St. Cloud State nordic ski places 7th at NCAA regional

The St. Cloud State University nordic ski team completed its 2014-15 season with a seventh place finish at the 2015 NCAA Central Region championships on Feb. 28 and March 1 in Houghton, Mich. Â
The Huskies tallied 28 points and tied for seventh in the team standings along with Gustavus Adolphus. Â Northern Michigan won the event with 123 points, while Michigan Tech placed second with 115 points. Â Alaska placed third with 103 points followed by St. Scholastica (99), UW-Green Bay (55) and St. Olaf (43) completed the field.
The weekend begin on Feb. 28 with the 5K freestyle race and was completed on March 1 with the 15K classic race.
SCSU's Maria Hauer led the Huskies with a 33rd place finish in the 5K freestyle race with a time of 17:42.8 and a 33rd place time of 52:59.5 in the 15K freestyle event. Â Katy Banken placed 37th in the freestyle race at 17:51.9 and 34th in the 15K classic at 53:57.9. Â Kiersten Haaversen was another to SCSU placer at 41st in the freestyle at 18:52.8. Â Haley Bock placed 40th in the classic race at 58:32.4.
