Suvi Ollikainen Named to Finnish Women's National Team

St. Cloud, Minn. ---Â Freshmen forward Suvi Ollikainen was named to the Finnish Women's National Team that will skate at the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship in Kamloops, British Columbia, on March 28-April 4.

The young forward has had a successful career already having represented Finland in multiple tournaments. She competed for the Finnish U18 team where she played in three World Championship spanning 2011-2013. Last season she played her first games at the senior national team level and won a bronze medal at the World Championships, which were held in Malmö, Sweden. Most recently she took home a third place finish at the 4 Nations cup in Sundsvall, Sweden and placed second at the Nations cup which was held on Jan. 4-7, in Füssen, Germany.
In 33 games played this season, Ollikainen has put up two goals and three assists for SCSU.Â

Not many European players get opportunity to play WCHA hockey and I have worked hard to get here and am glad that I have accomplished one of my long-term goals" -Ollikainen
Finland opens the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship against Russia on March 28, and also faces the United States on March 29 and Canada on March 31, in preliminary action. Both the bronze- and gold-medal games will be played on April 4.Â
