Sam Sunstrom Places Fourth To Lead Cross Country at St. Olaf Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior Sam Sunstrom placed fourth in the 6K race to lead the St. Cloud State cross country team to a seventh place finish at the St. Olaf Invite at the St. Olaf Cross Country Trails in Northfield, Minn on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Sunstrom ran a time of 22:15.0 to place fourth in the 6K race. The winner was the event was Emilee Trost from Minnesota Duluth in a time of 21:36.0.
The Huskies were able to place two runners in the top 22 including three in the top 50 in the competition of 373 runners.
Freshman Chrissy Lofgren finished 22nd with her time of 23:49. Senior Rachel Sakry earned 43rd place with a time of 24:21.0. Autumn Shurbert-Hetzel was 56th with her time of 24:39. Junior McKenzie Holt ran a 24:38 to finish 64th. Junior Zia Matti ran a 25:18.0 to place 85th. Sophomore Ally Schwark had a time of 27:47 to finish 240th.
The Huskies, as a team, finished the meet with 189 points to rank third among the Division II programs.
Next, SCSU competes at the Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minn. on Sept. 24 at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
