Huskies swept by Bemidji in road series Dec. 6-7

St. Cloud State Women's hockey team faced the Bemidji State Beavers in game two of the weekend series at 2:07pm at the Sanford Center. The Beavers controlled majority of the first period as they notched an early goal by Abby Halluska. Eight minutes into the second period, the Beavers scored a second goal giving them a two-lead. A third goal by the Beavers came from Haley Mack at 11:36 into the second period to widen the lead even more.
One minute after the Beavers' third goal, the Huskies came alive as junior Hannah Bates tallied her first career goal. Bates was unassisted at 12:35 in the second period. A late second-period goal by Klara Hymlarova closed the gap to put the Huskies behind by just one at the intermission. Hymlarova was assisted by Laura Kluge.

The third period came with some penalty trouble for the Huskies as Abby Thiessen took an early penalty just four minutes in. A few minutes later, Dana Rasmussen was called for a 5-minute major and a 2-minute minor. The Huskies battled hard to kill off the seven minute power-play of the Beavers. The Huskies held the Beavers to 0-3 for power-play opportunities. The Huskies had many quality chances in the third period, but struggled to get a puck past goaltender Lauren Bench of Bemidji State. The third period went scoreless allowing the Beavers to keep their lead for a 3-2 win.
