St. Cloud State Athletics Hall of Fame committee will accept nominations through January 31
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Athletics is proud to announce it is now accepting nominations for its 2023 Hall of Fame Class. The SCSU Athletics Hall of Fame committee will accept nominations of eligible individuals until January 31, with the class expected to be announced in the summer of 2023 and inducted in the fall of 2023. A formal ceremony to honor the class will be announced once details are finalized.
"I could not be more excited to be working with the Hall of Fame Committee and to be moving forward with the selection of the class of 2023," said Interim Director of Athletics Holly Schreiner. "With such a rich history of success, we will not have a shortage of well-deserving candidates and I look forward to working through the selection process alongside the committee."
Individuals can be nominated by accessing an online form located here. Candidates for the Hall of Fame should be athletic letterwinners, coaches, or individuals who have made exceptional contributions to St. Cloud State Athletics.
For athletes, a period of 10 years must have elapsed since the candidate last participated. Obtaining a degree from St. Cloud State University is preferred, but not required. While athletic achievement as an undergraduate is of prime importance, outstanding accomplishments after leaving SCSU also will factor in the selection process.
For coaches, five years must have elapsed after active coaching service at St. Cloud State. Consideration for selection is recognition as an authority/leader in the sport area involved, length and quality of the coaching record, program growth and achievement of the individual after leaving active coaching service at St. Cloud State.
Individuals who have made exceptional contributions to St. Cloud State Athletics through means other than as a student-athlete or coach may be considered for induction. A special Hall of Fame category is reserved for alumni who made significant contributions to athletics in general, but who were not recognized as outstanding during their career at SCSU.
A full list of requirements for Hall of Fame eligibility is located here.
