Huskies drop NSIC match-up
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State men's basketball team did not end 2022 the way they hoped. The Huskies fell 86-72 to the MSU Moorhead Dragons in an NSIC matchup. Eight different Huskies added points to the board.
GAME SUMMARY
The Huskies opened the game with a 5-0 run over the Dragons until they got their offense in gear. There was a total of nine lead changes within the first ten minutes of play. Each team's defense held strong as the largest lead was only five points by the Huskies until the Dragons regrouped to go up by eight with one minute left in the first half sending St. Cloud to the locker room down 31-23. The Huskies offense struggled to hold anything solid as they only shot .29 percent from the field with no athletes reaching double-digit marks.
The Dragons continued their pursuit as their line-up made a number of three-point jump shots to keep the Huskies playing catch up throughout the half. However, the Huskies fought back and brought the game to within three points thanks to a jump shot behind the arc from Jalen Griffin off a beautiful pass by Ryan Bagley with 7:13 left. Just as the Huskies started to get their momentum back, foul trouble hit St. Cloud's line-up. In the end, the Dragons increased the point margin back into the double-digits to 14 points where the Huskies were unable to respond causing them to fall 86-72. Three Huskies ended the day in double-digit scoring.
