Young St. Cloud State team gains valuable postseason racing experience
JOPLIN, Mo. – The young St. Cloud State Cross Country team gained lots of valuable experience racing at the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship meet on Saturday morning in Joplin. Four of the six Husky runners competed in their first NCAA Regional Championship meet. The Huskies placed 29th in the meet.
Junior Cambrie Kowal and senior Erica Conrad led the Huskies pack, finishing in 24:15.59 and 24:34.33 respectively. The next Husky was freshman Paige Beason who finished in 25:05.12 with freshman Alena Donahue (25:14.95) close behind. Sophomores Hannah Little and Jaileen Medina rounded out the Huskies lineup finishing in 25:54.59 and 26:30.67 respectively.
Winona State won the team title with 52 points. Augustana was second with 95 and Pittsburg State was third with 128. All three teams will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships which will also be held in Joplin on November 18.
