
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Hosts Pair of NSIC Games at Husky Stadium

SCSU hosts Wayne State on Friday, Augustana on Sunday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer is back in action this weekend with a pair of NSIC matches at Husky Stadium. The Huskies open the weekend with a game against Wayne State on Friday, Sept. 22 at 6:00 p.m. CT, followed by a game against Augustana on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1:00 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
The Huskies will look to extend its two-game win streak and five-game unbeaten streak against Wayne State on Friday. All-time, St. Cloud State is 12-2-1 against the Wildcats. The Huskies are 10-11-6 all-time against Augustana, with its last win against the Vikings coming on Oct. 4, 2013, a 4-2 win in St. Cloud.
FAST START CONTINUES
With a 2-1 win over Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State improved to 4-1-0 on the season, marking its best five-game start to a season since 2000 when it reached the same mark. In addition to the win over the Bulldogs, the Huskies earned victories over Michigan Tech (1-0, Aug. 31), Minnesota Duluth (2-0, Sept. 8) and MSU Moorhead (2-1, Sept. 10). SCSU's pair of wins over UMD extended its win streak to seven over the Bulldogs dating back to Sept. 9, 2018. During that seven-game win streak, SCSU has outscored UMD, 17-4.
The season-opening victory marked the 13th time in program history SCSU has opened its season with a victory and the first since a 3-0 win over Northern Michigan on Sept. 1 to open the 2017 season.
DOMINGUEZ ON RECORD BOOK WATCH
Fifth-year senior Jenna Dominguez (Geneva, Ill.) will get her final chance to further etch her name in the SCSU record book in her final season donning the red and black for SCSU. The 2019 All-NSIC Honorable Mention honoree already ranks amongst the best offensive players in program history, as she ranks second in career game-winning goals (10), eighth in career points (44 points), ninth career goals (17 goals) and 10th in career assists (10 assists). Her four game-winning goals in 2019 and three in 2022 also rank second and fifth, respectively, on the all-time single season list. Dominguez leads the NSIC in game-winning goals (two) and is one of 20 athletes in the NSIC to score 2+ goals in 2023.
STRICKLAND GETS THE CALL
Freshman goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) has made the most of her opportunity in the net for the Huskies, as she has played every minute and registered a 4-2-0 record with two shutouts. Through six games, she has produced a 1.17 goals-against-average and .731 save percentage.
SCORING IS SPREAD AROUND
The Huskies currently have three players who have found the net twice through six games in 2023, as Jenna Dominguez, Ariel Hawkey and Linsey Trapino have all recorded two goals. St. Cloud State is one of three NSIC programs (Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State) to have three or more athletes score two or more goals this season.
30th SEASON OF ST. CLOUD STATE WOMEN'S SOCCER
The 2023 season will serve as the 30th season of St. Cloud State Women's Soccer, with its inaugural campaign kicking off in 1994. The Huskies have recorded 10 or more wins in six seasons, including most recently in 2019 under head coach Gretta Macdonald when SCSU went 12-5-3 and advanced to the second round of the NSIC Tournament. In 30 seasons, SCSU is 217-243-61 overall, including a 116-92-33 (.550) mark in St. Cloud and a 79-62-25 (.552) record at Husky Stadium, which opened in 2004 and is affectionately known as "Husky Heaven" by the team.
