Freshman netminder posted a shutout win in her collegiate debut against No. 15/RV Mercyhurst
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Freshman goaltender Emilia Kyrkkö (Nokia, Finland) was named Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, following her standout performance in the series clinching shutout of No. 15/RV Mercyhurst on Saturday. It is the first weekly award of her career.
Kyrkkö earned a shutout win in her collegiate debut as No. 11 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (4-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) defeated No. 15/RV Mercyhurst, 2-0 to complete the series sweep. The freshman saved all 21 shots she faced in the victory to help lead the Huskies to their best start in program history at 4-0.

The Huskies swept Mercyhurst (1-3-0, 0-0-0 AHA) to open their 2024-25 home slate, winning 2-1 on Friday and 2-0 on Saturday.
The Huskies begin conference play on Friday, Sept. 11 and Saturday, Sept. 12 the road at Bemidji State. Puck drops slated for 6 p.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT respectively from the Sanford Center in Bemidji. Links to each coverage option will be available on the SCSU Women's Hockey schedule page.
