
Spaine Named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week

Spaine helped limit No. 2 Minnesota State to four shots on goal in Thursday’s 1-0 victory
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer junior Ana Spaine (Columbus, Ohio) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Defensive of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Spaine helped the Huskies defeat No. 2 Minnesota State, 1-0, on Thursday, the final game of the regular season.
Spaine is the second Husky to earn an NSIC weekly honor this season after redshirt sophomore Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) was named NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 6.
Spaine helped Limit No. 2 MSU to four shots on goal the 1-0 victory while playing a full slate of 90 minutes. The win set a new SCSU program record for most shutouts in a season at 10 and snapped a 36-game unbeaten streak in home conference games for MSU.
