Huskies Season Ends in Hard Fought Battle to No. 3 Minnesota State

SCSU falls 94-87
Sioux Falls, S.D. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (14-15, 10-12 NSIC) were defeated in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament against No. 3 Minnesota State Saturday morning.
Through the first five minutes of the game, St. Cloud State found themselves holding an 11-8 advantage following a layup by CJ Adamson. Minnesota State would find their footing as they used a 18-7 run to take a 26-18 after one. SCSU stayed within striking distance to start the second and ultimately rallied to take a 36-35 lead following a three by Jada Eggebrecht. The teams would battle back and forth the rest of the half as the game would be tied at 47 at halftime.
The Huskies would carry over their momentum from the second quarter as a steal led to a fast break layup as St. Cloud State led 64-54 as Minnesota State called a timeout. The Mavericks would chip away at that lead and come away with a 11-2 run to end the third period. With each team having their run, an interlock again occurred as the game was tied at 80 with 4:01 remaining. Eggebrecht gave the Huskies an 82-80 lead following a midrange jumpshot. Mankato would respond with an 8-0 as they held a 88-82 lead with 1:08 remaining. They would close the game out at the free throw line by making all six of their final attempts to go on to defeat the Huskies 94-87.
