St. Cloud State Cross Country Releases 2026 Schedule

Huskies slated to compete in three states, men’s team returns after 11 years
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Cross Country announced its schedule for the 2026 season on Tuesday. In their return, the men's team will race in four regular season meets and the women's team will race three times before the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships in early November.

WOMEN'S SCHEDULE
The men's team will return to action for the first time in 11 years at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 4. The four-mile season opener will take place at the Yankton Park Trail in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A week later, the squad will travel to Morris for the Cougar Twilight at the Pomme de Terre Golf Club before making the short trip to River Oaks Golf Club in Cold Spring the next week for the Toni St. Pierre Invitational on Sept. 18. On Oct. 17, the Huskies will return to Cold Spring for the SJU Autumn Classic before wrapping up their season where it began at the Yankton Park Trail in Sioux Falls for the NSIC Championships on Nov. 7.
The women's team also opens their season at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 4 with a 5k before transitioning into the regular 6k distance for the remainder of the season. On Sept. 18, the women join the men at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational in Cold Spring and they close their regular season schedule in Romeville, Illinois at the Lewis Crossover on Oct. 10. The Huskies open postseason competition at Yankton Park Trail in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Nov. 7 for the NSIC Championships before returning two weeks later for the NCAA Central Region which will be hosted on the same course on Nov. 21.
Men's Cross Country History
Before returning in 2026, men's cross country was previously sponsored at SCSU for 52 seasons from 1964-2015 and enjoyed a dominate stretch in its first two-plus decades. The Huskies won 11 conference titles and earned national runner-up finishes at the 1967 NAIA National Championships and the 1983 NCAA Division-II National Championships. The second-place finishes were the school's top national championship finishes until the wrestling team won its first national title in 2015. Individually, SCSU had 11 runners achieve All-American status a total of 22 times across NAIA and NCAA competition with Van Nelson (1965, 1966, 1967) and Kurt Threinen (1982) earning the highest individual finishes at third overall. Additionally, eight Huskies won 14 individual conference championships, including most recently Nick Hirsch capturing the 2004 NCC title.
