Since its campus opened on the banks of the Mississippi River in 1869, St. Cloud State University has seen several of its former students (and student-athletes) reach success in their careers. The list below are just a few of the notable individuals who have attended St. Cloud State University over the years:

- Joanne Benson, 1964 - former Lt. Governor of Minnesota and state legislator.
