Abi Semanko enters her second year as a full-time member of the St. Cloud State Athletics administrative staff and her first as the Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing in 2026-27.

Semanko first joined the department in a full-time capacity in August 2025 as the Assistant Athletics Director of Operations after serving as the department’s creative content graduate assistant during the 2024-25 school year. She was also an external operations and ticketing intern from May 2024 to December 2024. As an undergraduate student, Semanko worked as a marketing communications intern from May 2022 to May 2023 and a marketing specialist from September 2021 to May 2023.

In addition to working in the athletics department, Semanko served as a graduate assistant for the Department of Kinesiology from August 2023 to May 2024. She also was a social media intern for the St. Cloud Rox during the summer of 2023.

Semanko, who was on the St. Cloud State Hockey Cheer team as an undergraduate, has served as the team’s head coach since August 2023. She was also a figure skating coach for the St. Cloud Figure Skating Club from June 2021 to August 2023 and the Thief River Falls Figure Skating Club from October 2018 to January 2020.

A Thief River Falls, Minnesota native, Semanko is a two-time graduate of St. Cloud State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in recreation and sports management with minors in athletic coaching, marketing and mass communications in 2023 and a master’s degree in sports management in 2025.
