John Swanson is in his first season on staff as the Director of Skill Development for the St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey program. In his role, Swanson provides Huskies student-athletes with individually-focused skills training while helping guide the program to team-wide improvements related to skill development.
Swanson runs his own company, X7 Hockey, which is dedicated to helping young athletes achieve their dreams through expert training, personalized coached and a commitment to excellence on and off the ice.
The St. Cloud native and St. Cloud Tech graduate played four seasons from 2005-09 where he scored 31 goals and 50 assists for 81 points in 149 games and earned 2007-08 WCHA All-Academic Honors. Following his collegiate career, Swanson spent three seasons in professional hockey, playing for the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals in 2008-09 and the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads from 2009-11.
